"Why is this generation so depressed?"

I recently say this question on Tumblr and reblogged it because I think it is something to really think about. So today I shall be answering it in as many ways as I can think on a Tuesday night at 11pm.

Our generation us depressed because we have nothing to fight for. This about it: 30s-40s, we had World War Two. 40s-50s, we had the Cold War. 60s, we had great music and a society which tried to censor us from it. 70s, we had nuclear protests on every street corner. 80s, we were introduced to drugs and the Berlin wall came down, ending the Cold war. 90s, everybody lived in mutual harmony.

The world has had an excuse for each generation to fight for something. I believe that our governments have picked up on this and are now fighting for no reason. This distinctive lack of reason causes the people of the world to be less keen about supporting their singular nations. Therefore, we get bored. Sooner or later that boredom turns into anger. And as we all know, anger is the second sign of depression. (Well, you know now.)

Or maybe, our generation is so depressed because of our society. We all hear whispers or angry yells about our society and how abominable it is. However our modern society is an undying truth on a rampage to turn us beautiful human-beings into depressed simpletons. Assets which add to this are the way people percieve each other. Girls hate other girls because of jealousy. Boy hate boys because of jealousy. You will never find a single human being whom isn't jealous of somebody. This jealous turns into hate, hate turns to anger, and therefore, we come to depression, again. Society also has it's own individual way to highlight people's flaws and make them feel worthless. This, ladies and gentlemen results as a direct cause of depression. Nobody is defined by our society's "perfect" therefore our generation as a whole gets depressed.

To conclude, I feel as if this question "Why is this generation so depressed?" can lead to either the obvious explanation of our self-conscious society, or in that humans in 1st world countries have nothing really worth fighting for. We have everything we could ever want already.

I'd write more about this topic but to be honest I cannot discus it without discussion points. So if you have any, write in the comments below or send me a message on tumblr and I'll address it in another post.
